What’s wrong with me? Not!

Have you ever wanted better self-esteem? Have you ever wished you could have more confidence? Ever thought about what it would be like if you could just go do things without feeling so insecure? Have you ever asked yourself, “what's wrong with me, why can’t I…….?”.

Healthy self-esteem makes good times better and bad times easier to manage. Tough times, difficult times, sad times happen to everyone whether they have good self-esteem or low self-esteem. But studies show that people with healthier self-esteem seem to handle it better and so it reduces how long tough times last and how difficult the situation is to handle.

One of the “secrets” to managing challenges that people with healthy self-esteem use is the simple phrase. “What’s right about me!” This question begins the review of times and circumstances the person remembers from the past, where they have accomplished goals, achieved success, overcame obstacles, and made progress. With these memories, they can feel a sense of hope and optimism. They can feel a sense of motivation and energy to take on something new.  This is the opposite of people who struggle with low self-esteem. People who put themselves down often ask “What’s wrong with me?” which leads them to focus on their past failures or disappointments. They remember the times when things didn’t work out or when they wanted something, and they weren’t able to achieve it. This leads to a sense of futility and hopelessness. This leads to a feeling of pessimism about what’s possible. They tend to give up before getting started.

Make a promise to yourself, to start each day with a review of “what’s right about me” and pull those memories into the front of your mind. Let those times give you the energy, the confidence and the knowledge that you have done good things in the past and you can do it again.
